  • IMTECH AND STREAMSHIELD NETWORKS JOIN FORCES TO DRIVE CLEAN INTERNET REVOLUTION

Technical services provider and content security innovator deliver advanced solutions to enable service providers to clean their networks

16th March 2006 – Imtech Telecom, the leading technical services provider in telecoms and broadcasting which specialises in design, build and maintenance of next generation networks, and StreamShield Networks, the leader in real time internet content security, today announce a new alliance to accelerate the deployment of clean internet services. Imtech will offer StreamShield’s content security platform to service provider customers, giving them the power to clean their networks of infected, unwanted and inappropriate content.

UK web users have never been at greater risk of internet scams and inappropriate content. For example, the number of phishing web sites grew by around 65 per cent in December 2005, according to the Anti-Phishing Working Group, while the number of websites found to be offering child pornography to UK internet users increased by 75 per cent in 2005, according to recent figures released by the Internet Watch Foundation. Deployed within the service provider’s network, StreamShield’s content security platform is able to identify and stop internet threats such as viruses, malware, spyware, adware and similar threats before they reach business and residential internet users.

Imtech Telecom combines consultancy expertise, technical knowledge, industry experience and best of breed technologies to optimise service provider networks. The StreamShield internet content security platform will form a key part of Imtech’s technology portfolio, which also includes market-leading equipment from Juniper Networks and Lucent Technologies.“A clean internet is the only way that service providers can prepare their networks for the successful introduction of triple and quad play services such as IPTV and VoIP,” said James Morgan, managing director of Imtech Telecom. “By partnering with StreamShield we can offer our customers a unique solution that will protect their subscribers from internet threats, whilst freeing up space on the network for new services and reducing the costs associated with fire fighting attacks .” John Wanklyn, Vice President of Sales at StreamShield, concludes: “Never has the case been stronger for service providers to deploy protection capabilities ‘in the cloud’ and we are delighted that Imtech share our vision. With their proven track record in delivering network solutions to some of Europe ’s leading service providers, Imtech provides us with a valuable route to market.”
