  • Imtech: 30 million euro orders European telecoms sector

Imtech N.V. (technical service provider in Europe) has received orders with a total value of more than 30 million euro in the European telecoms sector (Germany, Nordic, Belgium and the United Kingdom). These orders are in part a result of the consistent strategy from Imtech in the European telecoms industry. The division Imtech Telecom obtained the orders, strengthening its position in Europe.

In today European telecoms sector, building and maintaining mobile and fixed network infrastructures are often no longer part of core activities of telecom operators. The market is seeking co-operation with financially sound and independent technical service providers with sufficient scale and European power. That's why Imtech acquired last year several companies in Germany and Belgium and integrated these business parts in the division Imtech Telecom in the Netherlands. Also Imtech Telecom opened offices in the United Kingdom and Sweden. Imtech Telecom offers a full range of network infrastructure services, including consultancy, design, construction, installation, operations and maintenance of mobile and fixed network infrastructures throughout Europe. Imtech has sufficient geographical coverage (200 offices in Europe) to be able to act as a European partner for telecom operators and product suppliers. In addition, Imtech Telecom has entered last year into several strategic partnerships with among others Juniper Networks and Lucent Technologies to become an accredited Business Partner.

E-Plus, a daughter company of KPN Mobile and the third biggest mobile operator in Germany, is implementing a new enrichment program for its mobile network infrastructure. This program will extend the capacity of the E-Plus network to a grade of quality without competition throughout Germany. E-Plus awarded an order to Imtech containing the entire project management, including technical implementation and service delivery, for the upgrade program within the eastern and northern parts of Germany.

The maintenance and support of Song Network's core network has been successfully transferred from Lucent Technologies to Imtech. This follows the strategic co-operation of Imtech with Lucent Technologies. Song Networks is one of the leading data, Internet and telecom operators in the Nordic region. The maintenance contract is a two year contract that covers advanced technical support, spare parts management, logistics and product sales for major parts of Song's core network in the Nordics and will be managed from the Imtech Telecom office in Sweden.

In Belgium the Ministry of Flanders has given an order to Imtech in Belgium for enlargement of a sizeable telematics network. The order covers advanced upgrading and extension of this network, including maintenance, consultancy, monitoring, training and project management.

In the United Kingdom cable operator Telewest has invited Imtech Telecom for the supply of products and services to support their beta trial for 'Evolved Ethernet', a Switched Optical Ethernet network service, for their business customers. This new network enables Telewest to develop enhanced network services and significantly reduces operating costs.
