TECHNOLOGY PARTNER NEWS IN BRIEF...

Juniper Networks has launched the E120 Broadband Services Router (BSR). It fits the same feature set of the E320 BSR in a smaller, highly efficient form factor, enabling providers to quickly and cost-effectively extend multiplay services to untapped markets served by smaller points of presence. Delivering 120 Gbps of capacity in a compact chassis, the E120 supports up to 64,000 individual subscribers. The E120 shares the same proven JUNOSe operating system, line cards and interface modules as the widely-deployed E320.

Research from Ellacoya Networks found that after more than four years where peer-to-peer (P2P) applications have overwhelmingly consumed the largest percentage of bandwidth on the network, HTTP traffic has overtaken it and continues to grow. Presently, as a result of streaming audio and video in Web downloads, HTTP is approximately 46% of all traffic on the network. P2P continues as a strong second place at 37% of total traffic. The study is based on usage data of approximately one million broadband subscribers in North America.
