Imtech Telecom Global will supply JANET, the UK’s education and research network, with routing and switching equipment, maintenance and professional services. The agreement, valid until June 2011 with the option of extension to 2013, allows public sector and related organisations to purchase Juniper equipment through Imtech, which won the contract through an EU tender process. Juniper represents an increasing share of the public sector IT infrastructure and the framework provides a conduit similar to that which has been available for other prominent network technologies.
Because JANET has tested the market through an open tender, organizations can feel confident that they are benefiting from advantageous pricing and satisfying the requirements of public procurement.
• The agreement will save time and money by reducing or eliminating the effort of tendering or obtaining multiple quotes.
• Individual transactions will be directly between the organisation and Imtech, ensuring accountability of the supplier.
• You can discuss any requirements with Imtech’s dedicated education and public sector sales team. It includes pre-sales staff who can assist you with design, evaluation and will respond to Requests for Proposals.
• A fully equipped network laboratory and training centre are available for customer use.
Installation and professional services may also be procured under the agreement, ensuring smooth migration to new generation networks.
Since its inception Juniper has concentrated on delivering the best implementation of IP routing in the industry. Juniper’s carrier class, resilient hardware and single train JUNOS operation system have given it an edge in this discerning market.
Whilst Juniper is well known for its flagship service provider offerings, it has recently introduced a range of enterprise switches and routers suitable for campus deployment. These bring the benefits of JUNOS at an affordable per port cost.
